The 2017 Ondangwa Trade and Industrial Exhibition (OTIE) has attracted 250 exhibitors from within Namibia, said the towns Public Relations Officer (PRO), Petrina Shitalangaho.
Speaking to Nampa on Thursday, Shitalangaho said this is an increase from 146 exhibitors last year.
She explained the establishment of the show facility, inaugurated by President Hage Geingob last year, has created an exhibition environment that is conducive to entrepreneurs, which resulted in more interest in the event.
What is special for this year is stakeholders engagement. We created such a platform to enable our exhibitors to educate and create awareness of the products they are offering, said the PRO.
Shitalangaho said Namibia Breweries Limited and Mobile Telecommunications Limited are participating for the first time and will be running promotions throughout the event, while also assisting other participants.
The NBL will brand the kapana vending store and provide items such as fridges.
The seventh OTIE started Friday and runs until 06 May 2017 under the theme Empowering Businesses towards an Industrialised Nation.
Industrialisation, Trade and SME Development Minister, Immanuel Ngatjizeko was invited to officially open the exhibition on Tuesday.
