Hollard Namibia donated N.dollars 440 000 to the Pupkewitz Foundation on Tuesday to support the Namibian School Feeding Programme.
These funds will be allocated to four regions - Oshikoto, Ohangwena, Oshana and Hardap.
A statement availed to Nampa on Thursday said the two organisations intend to build kitchens and equip them with cooking facilities for nine schools in Oshikoto, Ohangwena and Oshana regions.
This initiative will improve the quality, hygiene and the timelines within which school meals will be served to learners in these schools, it explained.
A fully equipped kitchen facility will be built in the Oshikoto Region and other kitchen facilities set up in Oshana, while in Ohangwena a borehole will be drilled to provide a cleaner supply of water for a community in need.
In the Hardap Region, an Early Childhood Development (ECD) centre will be renovated and upgraded .
Investment in ECD started seven years ago in a partnership with the Amos Meerkat Project, a pre-school initiative targeting children of farm workers who remain on farms with their parents and miss pre-school altogether, the statement read.
“By partnering with the Pupkewitz Foundation, we are aiming to close the gap in the ECD sector and to re-affirm our faith in Namibia’s most cardinal resource, its people,” it said.
