Outjo's new mayor, Samuel !Oe-Amseb was officially sworn in at a special council meeting attended by community members at the municipality chambers on Thursday.

The position of management committee chairperson has now been filled by Pieter Mostert.

The special council meeting also witnessed the swearing in of a new local authority councillor, Mwahafa Friedrich Shinime, in the position of ordinary council member to bring the total number of Outjo local authority councillors to seven.
The seven councillors comprise four Swapo-Party members, two United Democratic Front members and one Popular Democratic Movement member.
