Swapo regional coordinator for the Oshana Region, Samuel Nelongo on Monday made another appearance in the Ondangwa Magistrate's Court, on more charges of stock theft and an attempt to defeat the course of justice.
Nelongo's case was postponed to 30 May this year for further police investigations. His defence lawyer, Sisa Namandje did not show up for the hearing due to other commitments. The N.dollars 2 500 bail granted to Nelongo during his first appearance in February was extended.
Public Prosecutor Iyaloo ya France told the court more stock theft charges would be added once police investigations into the matter are completed.
Nelongo, 53, appeared in the same court on 13 February this year, facing one count of stock theft, following accusations that he was found in possession of a suspected stolen young cow, worth N.dollars 5 000.
Police indicated that at his arrested on 11 February 2018, he was found in possession of two suspected stolen cows, which he was transporting to his farm in the Oshikoto Region's Mangetti area.
The owner of the second cow is said to have declined to open a case against Nelongo.
Furthermore, Commander of the Namibian Police Force in the Oshana Region, Commissioner Rauha Amwele handed over 12 cows to different owners at Oshakati on 15 March 2018.
Amwele said during the handing over of the cattle, that all 12 cows were found among Nelongo's cattle at his farm between February and March this year.
The livestock, which included five calves, has a combined value of N.dollars 59 000.
Magistrate Toini Shilongo presided over Nelongo's case on Monday.
