ALEXIS SÁNCHEZ IS THE SOLUTION TO ANY CHELSEA PROBLEM

wasn’t a come and get me plea but Alexis Sánchez was openly flirting with Chelsea.
“I am happy in London and hope to finish my contract (with Arsenal),” he told Chile’s Publimetro this week. “I’d like to stay in the city but with a team that is winning things, that has a winning mentality.”
Those comments were made less than 48 hours after newspaper reports claimed the Chilean was Chelsea’s main summer transfer target. Coincidence? Hardly.
Chelsea and Sánchez are a perfect fit. If the Blues were able to convince Arsenal to sell this summer, he would be the proverbial Swiss army knife for Antonio Conte.
A player capable of replacing Eden Hazard, Diego Costa or fitting seamlessly into their current 3-4-3 system.
HOW SÁNCHEZ COULD REPLACE DIEGO COSTA
Arsene Wenger has got the best out of Sánchez this season when he has spearheaded the Gunners attack. When started up front the 28-year-old has scored 17 goals and assisted nine times in just 23 games.
Although he doesn’t have the frame of a traditional lone striker – like Costa –Sánchez can comfortably hold off opposition defenders thanks to his upper body strength. That coupled with his pace, which gives him the ability to run in behind defences, make Sánchez more than capable of leading the line.
So if Costa is one again tempted by the Chinese Super League this summer, and Chelsea agree the right fee to sell the striker, Sánchez would be an ideal replacement for the Spain international.
While Costa’s physical presence is an undoubted asset for Chelsea – although he’s won fewer attacking duels than Sánchez – on several occasions swift Chelsea attacks have been slowed down by the Spain international.
He can be cumbersome around the edge of the penalty area whereas the Arsenal star would dovetail perfectly alongside Eden Hazard, Willian or Pedro.
And Conte – as he proved against Bournemouth on Boxing Day – is happy to use three smaller players in attack. Chelsea won 3-0 that day with Pedro and Hazard both scoring.
