Kautondokwa and Godoy promise fireworks

WALTER 'The Executioner' Kautondokwa and his challenger Argentinian boxer Billi Godoy have promised fireworks when they clash in an international middleweight title fight on Tuesday.

Speaking at a face-off in Windhoek on Thursday, the two boxers said they were ready for their bout which takes place at the Ramatex complex under the theme 'The Legacy Fight'.

The event is part of Namibia's 28-year Independence Day celebrations, which falls on 21 March annually.

Kautondokwa said this is a great opportunity for him and he feels happy and ready.

“It will be a great fight. I have seen some of Godoy's fights on YouTube and that does not bother me. I am not underestimating him; I have prepared for all scenarios,” he said.

Kautondokwa added that he will not disappoint as the fight is dedicated to the three men who have ruled Namibia since independence: Sam Nujoma, Hifikepunye Pohamba and Hage Geingob.

On his part, Godoy said he prepared well for the fight and his opponent's height does not bother him.

“I am here to give Namibians a good fight, they must come out in numbers to witness the fight on Tuesday,” he said through an interpreter, adding that he will use his experience to overcome the Namibian boxer.

Several other fights are scheduled for the day, starting as early as 15h00.
