SAINTS suffered their first defeat of the season when they went down 1-0 to Unam at the Windhoek Showgrounds Hall on Friday night.
In a hard fought and evenly balanced match, Theodora Amutjira scored the winner from a penalty corner midway through the second half.
Unam could have won by a bigger margin had it not been for Saints' keeper Maxi Smith who pulled off several fine saves, but Saints also had numerous chances to score, which they could not capitalize on.
Saints were the first to threaten as Kayla Schimming hit the post from a penalty corner, but Unam immediately counter-attacked and two excellent saves by Smith denied Maggie Mengo and Ina Louis from scoring.
Schimming missed a great chance for Saints when she shot wide from close range midway through the first half, but Unam finished the half stronger with Mengo at the forefront.
She created several chances with her powerful runs from the back and only two fine saves by Smith kept her out as the teams went into halftime level at 0-0.
