Shining Stars won the Kavango East Region leg of the Dinolo Super Netball Tournament on Saturday.
Local company African Deli launched the Dinolo Super Netball Tournament in the Khomas Region in June this year.
So far, matches have been played in the Khomas, Erongo, Hardap, Kavango West, Oshana, Omaheke, Oshikoto, Otjozondjupa, Omusati and //Kharas regions and now, Kavango East Region.
A national final event with 14 regional winning teams is expected to be held in Swakopmund at the end of September.
The tournament is part of the organisation?s corporate social investment programme and through this initiative, is bringing women together to have fun and at the same time allow them and their supporters an opportunity to interact with each other.
Chairperson of the Kavango East Region netball team, Veronica Mudumbi told Nampa on Sunday Rundu Chiefs came in second followed by Afro Catch in third place.
?Seven teams from the region registered. One team later withdrew thus only six teams took part in the tournament,? Mudumbi said.
These teams are Shining Stars, Rundu Chiefs, Afro Catch, Cuca Tops, Rundu UNAM Campus and the Sambyu netball team.
Rino netball club consisting of police and army officers withdrew as all their players were not available.
African Deli, which produces the Namibian delicacy, matangara at a factory in Walvis Bay, is the initiator and sponsor of the Dinolo tournament.
