Training by Netball Namibia a success.

Umpires described training by Netball Namibia (NN) held in Windhoek over the weekend as a success.
About 70 umpires from 11 regions received training from Friday to Sunday from Maggie du Plessis from Netball South Africa, assisted by Emsie Esterhuizen from Namibia, at the Trustco United Netball courts in Olympia.
The course taught the netball officials the new rules of the game implemented in 2016.
Speaking to Nampa on Saturday, Mahukazuva Gideon from Kavango West said the information will come in very handy as they recently established a regional league.
?Attending such workshops boost my confidence as an official because we went through the new rules of the games with regards to handling of the matches. I personally learned a lot of new things that we usually take for granted in our matches,? he said.
He added that he is excited to implement what he learned back in his region and pass the knowledge on to his colleagues.
Patricia Tanga, also from Kavango West, echoed Gideon?s comments, adding that NN should continue hosting workshops of this nature as they help boost umpires confidence and improve local netball.
NN Secretary-General Imelda Nerongo said the umpires were enthusiastically engaged throughout the three days.
?Renowned International Testing Panel (ITP) cadre and umpire trainer Maggie du Plessis was roped in from South Africa, to train our umpires while at the same time helping to develop a national umpire pathway that will standardise umpire grading levels, as well as ensure that all regions apply the rules of netball used internationally,? she said.
She added that the umpire board will roll out subsequent trainings in all other regions as well as at all future national, regional tournaments and schools? championships.
Regions that were not represented at the training are //Kharas, Oshikoto and Kunene.
Neronga said despite these regions missing out, they are happy with the number of participants who made it. NN will organise future events where hopefully all regions will be represented.
The event was organised with funds availed by Debmarine Namibia. They recently signed a three-year sponsorship worth N.dollars 1.8 million with NN.
