The Windhoek Draught Welwitschias on Saturday lost their second game of the Currie Cup first division 47-57 against the Hino Valke at the Hage Geingob Stadium in Windhoek.
The Namibians trailed 28-36 at half-time after the visitors opened the scoring as early as the fifth minute with their first try of the game, which was converted, and increased their score in the 11th minute with a penalty kick.
Namibia immediately replied with their first try of the game in the 12th minute through Johan Tromp and Theuns Kotze converted from the spot.
The home team then took the lead for five minutes, with Tromp?s second try of the game which Kotze also converted for a 14-10 lead which was cut after the Valke scored two tries consecutively. Both were converted.
Helarius Kisting scored the Welwitschias? third try, with Kotze making no mistake from the spot.
Before the half-time break the Valke scored two more tries, but only managed to convert once to take their lead to 36 points.
Abel de Klerk scored another try for the home team which Kotze converted for a 28 -36 half time score.
In the second half, the Namibians ran in three tries through Maharua Katjiteko, Jan Booysen and Russel van Wyk, with Kotze converting twice from the spot to give the home team 47 points.
The Hino Valke also managed to run in three tries in the second half, converting only one try. They also scored a drop goal to record 57 points in the match.
Namibia is currently fifth on the log of eight teams with eight points. They gained a bonus point for scoring more than four tries in the match on Saturday.
The Welwitschias try scorers are Johan Tromp (two), Helarius Kisting, Abel de Klerk, Maharua Katjiteko, Jan Booysen and Russel van Wyk while Theuns Kotze converted six times.
Hino Valke tries were scored by Etienne Taljaard, Johannes Pretorius, Christian Rust, Simphiwe Sithole, Jan-Frederick Enslin, Coert Cronje, Andrew van Wyk and Friedle Olivier, with Warren Potgieter converting four times. Their penalty was scored by Warren Potgieter and drop goal was scored by Errol Jaggers.
The Welwitschias? next fixture will be on 15 September against the Leopards in South Africa.
