Geingob concludes State visit to China

President Hage Geingob has concluded his State visit to China and is expected back in Namibia on Tuesday.
A statement availed to Nampa on Monday by State House Press Secretary Alfredo Hengari said following bilateral talks with China's President Xi Jinping on Thursday, Geingob travelled to Shanghai.
There he met with the founder of the Alibaba Group, Jack Ma ahead of his address at the China-Namibia business forum.
The businessman visited Namibia last year.
Geingob encouraged his involvement in Namibia through the provision of training opportunities, internships and mentoring of young Namibians involved in business and Information and Communication Technology.
The Head of State also urged Jack to explore Namibia’s tourism sector since it holds great potential.
“Jack indicated that he was ready to invest in Namibia and businesses in the country would be encouraged to join his e-commerce platform to sell their products,” the statement said.
At the China-Namibia business forum, Geingob addressed 300 business leaders, including vice chairperson of the All China Chamber of Business and President of the Shanghai Federation of Industry and Commerce, Wang Zhixiong, who also addressed the forum.
Geingob encouraged Chinese businesses to invest in Namibia as it is a hub for the regional and African market.
The Head of State also informed the forum that Namibia is a peaceful country that respects the rule of law and has good physical infrastructure. Its government has also passed business enabling legislation, including the Public-Private Partnership Law and Framework, the Namibia Investment Protection Act and Business Intellectual Property Authority Act.
After the forum Geingob met with the Party Secretary of Shanghai and member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China, Li Qiang.
He informed Li that Shanghai held excellent opportunities for business relations with Namibia.
Li in turn said he is ready to deepen business ties with Namibia.
Geingob left Namibia last Tuesday for China and is expected back in the country on Tuesday.
