President Hage Geingob will officially open the Ongwediva Annual Trade Fair (OATF) next week Monday, 28 August.
This was announced in a statement availed to the media on Wednesday by spokesperson in the presidency, Albertus Aochamub.
The 18th edition of the Ongwediva Trade Fair which will take place from 25 August to 02 September 2017 in Ongwediva, will be held under the theme: “Towards the transformation of Namibia’s Exhibition Landscape”.
According to the statement, the focus at this year’s trade fair will be on manufacturing, industrial and information, communication and technology driven service sectors in line with Namibia’s developmental goals.
“For the past 18 years, the Ongwediva Trade Fair has grown from strength to strength and has positioned itself as one of the leading multi-sectoral trade and exhibition platforms in the country,” said Aochamub.
The event brings together both local and international exhibitors from all corners of the world.
The capacity of the venue can accommodate 440 exhibitors.
However, at this year’s edition, there will be at least 456 exhibitors where 15 of them are international exhibitors from various countries such as Kenya, Ghana and Indonesia.
He said the OATF has played a fundamental role in stimulating economic development at the town thus creating new employment opportunities and attracting multimillion dollar investments across many sectors.
These economic activities have a positive impact on the local and broader Namibian economy which positively impacts on other industries such as the tourism, retail sectors and informal sectors, said Aochamub.
