Geingob officially opens Tsandi Trade Fair

President Hage Geingob officially opened the first-ever Tsandi Annual Trade Fair and Expo on Monday.
The event started last Monday and will run until 03 November.
Geingob said it represents an important platform which enables local businesses and entrepreneurs to showcase their products and services and also promotes cultural diversity, tourism, investments and service delivery.
“These are all the ingredients for sustained economic growth and development,” he told his audience, which included Prime Minister Saara Kuugongelwa-Amadhila.
He went on to say Government, the business community and the general public all need to hold hands and promote local business development, products and investment.
By so doing, Geingob stated, Namibians will make progress in bringing about broad-based economic empowerment, which is essential for social cohesion and sustained development.
He further said ensuring economic advancement is a primary objective of government and represents one of the five pillars of the Harambee Prosperity Plan.
Geingob also used the platform to encourage the people of Africa, particularly Namibians, not to rely on Foreign Direct Investment as key stimulant for economic growth, but to instead start focusing on generating investment from within their countries.
“We need to rely on our own entrepreneurs and that means we need to find ways to offer them the requisite support in order to ensure that they reach maturity,” he urged.
Chief Executive Officer of the Tsandi Village Council, Kephas Haitembu told Nampa 150 exhibitors from Namibia are participating in the trade fair and showcasing a variety of products and services.
The Tsandi Trade Fair and Expo is being hosted under the theme ‘Cultural Diversity and Economic Enhancement.’
