Minister of Agriculture, Water and Forestry, John Mutorwa, has called on the Chinese government to speed up the consideration of the agreement to trade in beef and aquatic products.
This comes after the protocol on veterinary health conditions and quarantine signed 2015 in Beijing, China, had to be renegotiated when the Lumpy Skin Disease (LSD) outbreak was recorded in Namibia thereafter.
Subsequently, the protocol dictates that there must not have been an occurrence of Lumpy Skin Disease in the Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD) free areas in the country during at least the last 12 months.
Mutorwa was speaking at the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding between Namibia and China on South-South Cooperation here on Monday.
