A seven-month-old boy was injured after a pick-up reversed over him at the Iihongo village in the Oshikoto Region on Friday.
In the daily crime report issued on Sunday, the Namibian Police Force’s Head of Media Relations, Chief Inspector Kauna Shikwambi said the accident occurred at about 15h15.
The boy’s mother is a domestic worker and was busy in the kitchen at her employer’s house when the baby crawled outside.
Not knowing that the baby had crawled under his pick-up, the woman’s employer reversed over him.
No arrest was made and police investigations continue.
The baby is in hospital at Onandjokwe.
Meanwhile, a 32-year-old man died instantly when the vehicle he was travelling in overturned between Omuthiya and Ondangwa on Saturday at about 15h00.
It is alleged that the driver of the vehicle had been attempting to avoid a head-on collision with an oncoming car when he lost control and the vehicle overturned three kilometres outside Ondangwa.
Three other passengers aged 34, 28 and 27 and the 30-year-old driver sustained serious injuries and were admitted to the Onandjokwe State Hospital.
The deceased’s next of kin have been informed and police investigations continue.
