Three men, two aged 19 and the other aged 35 years, linked to a suspected stock theft syndicate in the Outjo district are expected to appear in the Outjo Magistrates Court on Monday.
Spokesperson of the Namibian Police Force (NamPol) in the Otjozondjupa Region, Inspector Maureen Mbeha on Sunday told Nampa that the suspected cattle rustlers were apprehended Friday afternoon in the Kap en Bou informal settlement in Outjo during a police operation.
She said the trio allegedly went to farm De Hoek situated about 70 kilometres north of Outjo during the week, and slaughtered three cows there on Friday.
According to the information we obtained, the men transported the fresh meat of the cattle to a house in Outjos Kap en Bou informal settlement that day, and we recovered it there during our intensified police operation, Mbeha said.
She added that the three recovered carcasses, with an estimated value of N.dollars 25 000, were on Saturday handed over to the owner at farm De Hoek.
Police investigations in the matter continue.
