The two men who died in a head-on collision near Otjiwarongo Friday night, have been identified.
Spokesperson of the Namibian Police Force (NamPol) in the Otjozondjupa Region, Warrant Officer Maureen Mbeha on Thursday told Nampa the two are Dominikus Ndango Ndango, 36, and the 21-year-old Frans Haiyambo Haingura.
“Both are from the Kavango East Region,” Mbeha said.
They were positively identified by their relatives Tuesday and Wednesday.
Ndango is originally from the Sambyu area, while Haingura who was a soldier in the Namibian Defence Force (NDF) based in the capital, was from Katji na Katji village.
The accident occurred around 22h20, some 12 kilometres south of Otjiwarongo.
Police investigations indicate Haingura was alone in the white sedan, while Ndango was in the red sports utility vehicle (SUV) with two other occupants - a 46-year-old man who sustained slight head injuries and a 38-year-old female passenger.
The woman fractured her right leg.
It is believed that the accident involved illegal overtaking.
Police investigations in the matter continue.
